Three Muslim Footy Players Who Are Getting PAID

What would you do with all that cash?

Most people know that if you want to achieve something amazing in life you nearly always can, but it depends how much sacrifice you’re willing to make. How much are you willing to sweat? How much direction are you willing to take? Are you willing to stay out of trouble and sacrifice a lot of your free time in the pursuit of your goal?

Sometimes it’s easy to see uber-victorious athletes – like Mo Farah or Zinedine Zidane – with all the trappings of success and think they are just plain lucky. But, in reality, along with talent they probably had more discipline and determination than the rest. Here’s the three highest earning Muslim football players in the Premier League right now; their hard work and determination has clearly paid off.

Paul Pogba

Pogba, the 23-year-old French midfielder for Manchester United, is no stranger to success. His meteoric rise, from an unknown amateur to the most expensive player in the world, took less than a decade. Now, thanks to his dedication to his sport, he’s on an eye-watering £290,000-a-week. That’s enough to buy 23.2million Mars Bars every single year; enough Mars Bars to supply over one-third of the people in the UK with one. Surely that would be the best way of spending the cash, right?

Yaya Touré

Yaya Touré, the 34-year-old Ivorian Manchester City midfielder, may not be the youngest player in the Premiership but he’s the second best paid. After beginning his career at Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas, he’s played for a number of teams over the years including Beveren, Metalurh, Donetsk, Olympiacos, Monaco and Barcelona where in 2007 he helped them win six trophies in one calendar year. Not too shabby.

Three years later, in 2010, he moved to Manchester City where he was instrumental in them winning their first league title in 44 years. After retiring from the international game in 2015 with 100 caps, he’s recently announced that he’ll be returning as he wants to “win another trophy with the Elephants of Ivory Coast”. He currently earns £220,000-a-week which is enough to buy around 11,000 brand new X-Box controllers every single week. Every. Single. Week.

Mesut Özil

Mesut Özil, a 29-year-old German international, is the third best-paid Muslim footy player in the Premiership. An attacking midfielder, he played for a variety of clubs before being signed to Arsenal in 2013 for an undisclosed fee (£42.5million according to rumours). He’s since made 134 appearances for the north London team scoring 27 goals. He’s now on a whopping £140,000-a-week which means that his weekly wage could buy 23,333 months of Netflix subscription. Please buy us the Netflix subscription. But, with all likelihood, it isn’t going to last long; his contract runs out at the end of this season and both Man U and Juventus have got their eyes on him.
